Mossberg 500 - 500A

The 500a is a Plain Jane version, 28" ventilated barrel, 3" shell, wood stock, made in the 1990's, sold for about $150 on the used market.

yes to your second question, all accessories will fit.

the 500A "synthetic stocked guns" do not have a removable fore end that can be replaced as easily as the wood stocked model 500. The fore end is pinned in place and in order to replace the factory fore end you must also replace the action bar tube with the other type that just uses the fore end nut to hold it in place. All other parts and accessories (barrels included) are interchangeable as far as I know.

Um really? Because I'm looking at my old 500A (from North Haven Conn) that came with a wood stock that is easily removed. Maybe the new ones are different.

The new Mossbergs are essentially a Maverick with the Mossberg name and price. I bought an ATI tactical folding stock and fore end, got it all apart and realized the fore end requires some additional parts (slide tube and nut I believe). Everything else fit great. With the stock folded and the shorter barrel that comes with the Mossberg, I can get it to fit in my backpack.

i have a 500A its old school camo synthetic was recently thinking of changing the stock to an adjustable ati, is it gonna be possible?

It shouldn't be a problem. The ATI folding stock was made for the earlier style Mossbergs, its the newer ones that are a problem, and its only the fore end thats the problem. I had no troubles with the stock, in fact the kit comes with a whole bunch of different fittings for different shotguns. plus it even had a drop bushing for the mossberg if you needed to drop the butt a bit.

I should have mentioned it is after 2006 made guns. It only effects the fore end, any rear stock made for the model 500 will fit any 500A. This also applies to Maverick 88, the same as the 500A.

Thanks for correcting me on this Paintgunner.

Mossberg really cheaped out on this one! Is there any aftermarket kits or fore grips for these guns? I was really disappointed with my Maverick when I saw that!
