Another good light mount for 18.5" barreled 590s is the FAB defense BSR-1,this is a mount for AR15s ,but fits nicely between the end of the slide and barrel ring, you will have to replace the bolts with longer one's and add nuts to make it work.

Also,Model 835 barrels will fit on 18.5" barreled 590s for any one desiring a longer barrel, but you will not be able to use 3.5" shells in it, only the 3" one that fit the 590 reciever.

Where do i get a an attachment and good flashlight for my 590 with 20inch bbl? I was thinking of buying a 400 surefire weapons light but there must be a cheaper option.

I just bought my first shotgun and was hoping for some input, it's a maverick 88 with a folding pistol grip stock. I would like to make it a more tactical/zombie defence gun. Any thoughts on site rails or heat guards?

I just ordered a Mossberg 590 Persuader and I was wondering what parts are best to swap out? Any issues with the follower or the spring on these bad boys? Also if I wanted to mount a site, red dot or holo?

Im looking for some help in deciding between two 590a1's

1) Model 51663 - 20" 8+1 capacity $529
2) Model 51517 - 18.5" 5+1 capacity $499

I have a line on a 20" but I would need to purchase it unseen from an online store. I was able to handle an 18.5 at my local store and it felt quite comfortable. I love the idea of the extra 3 round capacity, but I am worried that it will be too nose heavy for me.
I have also looked into a +2 extension on the 18.5 to give me a total capacity of 7+1 but again, unsure.

Can anyone verrify that the stocks are the same on both the 20 and 18.5 versions ? - I have the option for both standard stock or speed feed ( + $50 ) . However, based the reviews I have read, I will likely opt for the standard stock.

I'm not looking to do any trap and or bird hunting with this firearm but rather primarily range practice for slug shooting and eventually a hiking companion.

I can't speak to the stock lengths so I'll leave that for someone else but thought I would just chime in to say that I personally do feel like the 8+1 20" shotguns are very front heavy for me. Is it unmanageable? No, but I would definitely feel more comfortable with something a little shorter. 18.5" then adding the +2 is the way I would go. The 1.5" and 1 round up front is not a lot on paper but I feel it does make a noticeable difference in practice.

A friend of mine has the 590a1 and when you gas it right up it gets pretty heavy. I'd go with the 18.5" c/w extension myself. As for the stock lengths maybe check out the mossy website for the LOP info but I think the standard factory stock has a 14.5"LOP. I just got my 500TR from Wanstalls and it can't be fitted with an extension unless I have done gun smithin' done to her :-(

I'm sure it's been posted before, but does anyone have the instructions and part numbers required to convert a new Mossberg 500 fore end to the older style to allow use of various aftermarket parts? I have the Hogue set for my 500 Security, and I had the instructions saved to favorites but that page no longer exists...
