I have a Mossberg 500 Just In Case 12 gauge shotgun with no rails on the end of the barrel and was hoping to find a laser sight or something to improve my accuracy for shooting buck/slugs in a self-defensive situation.
Thanks!

You may not want to hear this but your accuracy will improve exponentially if you ditch the pistol grip and put on a proper stock.

I can get ~5" groups with slugs at 100yds with a bead.

I shot my Road Blocker 500 "from the hip" @ 5 meters and hit exactly what I wanted. Pistol grip shotguns are made for short distances where you don't need any sights.

From personal experience, don't put a laser on a shotgun with pistol grip. We did it for fun on my 500 with a top-mount rail and a friends laser, and after a few mags the repetitive shock was enough to destroy the laser internally. Granted it was not a top-end piece, but on a handgun it would have lasted forever. I'd also be weary of a red dot for the same reason.

The standard bead is more than adequate, but the best thing I've found for a non-choke short barrel are ghost-ring sights, like on the 590A1 (which I also have). Find a way to install something similar on the JIC and install a proper shoulder stock and it'll be impossible to miss!

Purchased this shotgun for a self defense weapon for bears only and want to keep it as short as possible being that I have to pack it everywhere.
