Ok, so my dad is coming with me this year to do some deer hunting. He has an older mossberg 500 (25+ years) that looked pretty bad. So being the nice and considerate son that I am, took it appart, and refinished the stock and forearm on it, (looks pretty good too). So since I ordered myself a new mossberg last year, and already had a 24" cantalevered rifled barrel for it, I thought that I would switch the barrels of dad's old one for my new one that has the screw in chokes and set it to a mod instead of the old fixed full that dad has to shoot slugs better in. I install the barrel and when I go to try an pump it, it's stuck, the elevator hits the barrel inside and will not go up any further. I switch it with the 24" barrel and it pumps no problem, I put his old barrel on again (to make sure that I did not do anything wrong when putting the gun back together) and it pumps no problem. It just doesn't like the new barrel, seems that it doesn't sit flush like the other 2 barrels do. I guess I can always use the rifled barrel on dad's old mossberg and let dad use mine, but just wondering if anyone else seen this? Would it be too much to get a gunsmith to look into it?
