Mossberg 500 feeding issues

Was out shooting with a buddy of mine who has a relatively new (maybe 50 rounds) Mossberg 500 Marine shotty.
Gun is nice and light and pretty accurate.....only problem is that sometimes when you go to rack the next round.....it dumps one or two out the bottom instead of chambering them.

Any ideas?

It's a timing issue with the Cartridge Stop and the Cartridge Interrupter.

I'm sorry, but I don't know how to adequately describe re-timing the Stops.

The Stops allow one cartridge to feed from the magazine while keeping the other cartridges from feeding.

Use some dummy cartridges and very slowly move the forearm to the rear, towards the end of the rearward stroke is when things happen. Watch the Stops and you will how they function.
 
It sounds like the shell interrupter isn't engaging.

This is what it should look like when the pump is fully forward. Note the position of the shell stop(the fat bar on the right) and the shell interrupter(the skinny bar on the left).

This it what it should look like with the pump 3/4 the way back. Note that the interrupter has gone behind the rim of the shell.

This is what it should look like with the pump fully to the rear. The first shell should shoot out of the tube and the interrupter should prevent the second shell from coming out.

Thanks for the info. The only shotgun I have owned was a mag fed grizzly so I had no idea.....lol
 
Digitalblue's picture #1 is the way the stop should look. If not remove it bend it gently (so it progress towards the primer a little more) and make sure to dress off the flat surface (mating against shell) is actually 90 degrees to the cartridge head. Go easy and it will sort itself out.
