The action will not let the last shell ouot of the tube when cycled. The shell stop appears to stay in the "stop" position. I heve cleaned the unit and lubricated it, no go. Any ideas??? Thanks Paul

One round or two, no difference. It seems like the shell restricter does not move farenough to let the shell rim past? Tried a different brand of shells and it still failed but not as often??

Your Mossy should shuck all factory shells. Take the gun apart and look for burrs on the shell stops and the machined recesses in the frame ( use cotton balls to drag to detect burrs). If this is brand new gun send it back for warranty repair. If not let's work on getting it fixed.

remove the barrel, unscrew the mag tube and clean it out thoroughly.
you can just use a regular cleaning rod and clean the mag tube like you would a shotgun bore.
make sure your follower is clean as well - the 500s have steel cap followers which tend to rust at the edges and not move so smoothly in the magazine tube.

Thanks guys. I'vecleaned the action (not the tube yet) and the shell retained seems to be moving more now. I'll takle it out and give her a try (when it warms up). It is -31 C here this A.M.

The cleaning did not do the trick. Taking it apart , again, I found a piece of rubber (about 3/4 inch long and the exact width of the groove) behind the shell restrictor, and as far froward as possible. I removed this and every thing seems to work. Tried to find this part on the intenet sites for actual location, but no luck. Should this rubber be there , if so where abouts in the groove? Right now it is not installed in the gun?? Ideas? Thanks. Paul
