Mossberg 500 Jams

It sucks to hear all of these problems with the 500's I hope this isn't the kind of problems I will see in the future! I went skeet shooting with my 500 tactical 20" barrel, 8 rnd capacity. I constantly hammered off 8 in a row with no problems, probably fired 500 rnds or more. Not a single issue, I made fun of my buddie for buying a remmington 870 that jammed on the first fired shel.

Ive never had my shotgun do that, mossburg 500, 3500-4000 rounds in 2 years through it and not one jam, what is going on there, short shucking it slow, going fast and making everything else function should be what you are making sure of every time you clean it.

I had the same problem with a 500 that I bought new 40 years ago. You'd think the issue would have been fixed by now even if it is a minor adjustment. Speaking of that, I did the same thing to it 40 years ago that madtrapper explained in his post.

I was sorting some ammo last night and found 2 types of 2 3/4 12 ga ammo that varied greatly in length.

Here is 3 different 12g, 2 3/4 shells:

Was the OP shooting the really short, medium or long 2 3/4 shells? :nest: The 2.5mm between the shortest and tallest I have might make a difference... I'm sure if I bought another brand I would have another different overall length, for the same shell size. I've never had any failures with any Mossberg 500 I've had.

Probably a short chuck or slow pump would be the culprit.
