Hi
I'm in the market for my first shotgun and am looking at pump action to start
After hearing some complaints about Remington 870 express quality of late, I've been looking at the mossberg 500 models

I really like the persuader and 590a1, but both of those have fixed cylinder bore and not threaded for chokes

Use will be target/clays as well as hd and small game.
Basically something that isn't perfect for any one use, but flexible.
Would I bebetter off with the combo with a barrel for game/trap and the short barrel for close range, or the longer barrel with different chokes?

I love the look of the spx and 590a1 but they are limited in flexibility?
Thanks

I think you would be best trying to get one of the 500 combos. Either the 2 or 3 barrel combo, depending on what you can find for a better price

Thanks
I've never seen the three barrelcombo just the two
Whatextra barrel comes as the third?
The 870 synthetic won't take chokes while the tactical one does which is odd
Tnx

I've got the mossberg 590 flex and love it so far. Was thinking of springing for the A1 but I really liked the ease of change between parts of the "flex" system so I went that route.

Mossbergs have many aftermarket parts. I have 3. If you buy a used one you can change the look from a trap gun to a bad ass home defense zombie killing machine in less the 10 mins. Mine goes from duck gun to skeet gun to dual pistol gripped fun gun with heat sheild and side saddles. The 3 barrel sets will have to 28" threaded vent rib barrel. A 22" threaded smooth bore barrel with rifle sights and the 3 Rd barrel is rifled with either open sights or cantilever rail

My 535 3 barrel combo came with a 28" vent rib, 24" Turkey and a 24" rifled cantilever. Both the vent rib and turkey barrels are threaded for chokes.

I also purchased a combo... The 28/18.5. I have since put more money in accessories on it than I spent. :) lots of fun and highly versatile. I just need a rifled barrel for it.
