Mossberg 500 variant

Hey there
I just came a cross a mossberg 500 from a friend. It was very rusty when i got it but have most of it looking good now. Its missing the butt stock but the rest is complete. still a little rusty but seems solid and is good to go.

The only thing i thought was strange is there is only one action bar.
No it is not broken..I figured there was always two.
Can anyone date this gun for me?

Also dont necessarlily need the gun so does anyone have an offer to
take it off my hands???

Older Mossbergs have only the single action bar. Many older pattern shotguns are built this way, the Model 12 on Ithica 37 come to mind
