First off i'll start by saying I'm not trying to repeat any threads here. I know the difference between the two models from the manufacturers website and threads on here. I really like the Mossberg as it seems to fit me well and intend on buying one soon. My question to anyone that wants to chime in is this:

Is the extra cash for the 835 worth it over the 535. Around my part of the woods the difference is almost $200 for the 835 vs the 535... I don't mind spending the extra cash as i'm sure i'll keep the gun for a while, I just don't wanna spend the extra money if it's pointless.

The gun will be primarily for turkey hunts and will be a bow back up while on bear hunts.

Your opinions appreciated...

Ok one man's opinion. I bought a 835 brand new and later a 535 brand new.
I still have the 535 and not selling it.Just picked up a rifled barrel and scope for it also. Kept the 835 one season.
Hope that helps.

You might want the 535 (I have it and its great), cause u can shoot slugs in it, u can get a rifled barrel if u wish too. But to me the fact u can basically shoot any thing(Steel shot?) through it, the 853 u cant. I shoot mine for mainly trap, but I am getting into reloading slugs and getting some good successes. It is a bit light, it has an alloy receiver so I would stick to the regular loadings unless u want/need to give it all u can, but it will hurt. On magnum 2 3/4" loadings it kicks, 3 1/2" it will probably kill both ends.
Watch out on the low wall steel base hulls, they might be a bit sticky.

Yes the 835 has a very Overbored 12 gauge barrel, no good for slugs unless you buy it with a rifled barrel.

The 535 usually comes with 2 or three barrels.

The 835 is either a great waterfowl gun or deer varmint only gun with the rifled barrel. Ihave an 835 that sports the rifled barrel always for deer hunting.

So if you are being charged $200 more for an 835 over the 535 it is time to order online from either Triggers n Bows or Ellwood Epps they both have relatively close pricing.

From Triggers and Bows out of Burford Ontario:

535 Price for the 3 Barrel Combo:

acc-set Mossy Oak New Break Up

835 Price for the 2 Barrel Combo:

MODIFIED TUBE CAMO 7 3/4 LBS $569.00

I was lookin to buy one as a turkey gun. I currently use a 870 sps super mag with a 26 inch barrel for turkeys and liked the looks of the mossberg tactical turkey on their website with a 20" barrel and a adjustable stock. The only gun shop around here sells only the 835 and they want $635 plus communist HST on top. I went to look at it today as I don't mind spending the money for a quality gun, but the finish and feel of it seems kinda cheap for that kinda money. I'm not a big brand guy but the 870 just feels a whole lot tighter and more quality. any comments or opinions??

A 870 sps made today has no more quality than the 535. If you really want quality you buy a browning bps.

Plus they are nice to look at
