Mossberg 590 12ga question

I noticed on the Mossberg site that the 500 (20 & 12ga) receivers are drilled & tapped - is this to be able to mount a scope or ghost ring sites?

Unless your set on a pump,Have a look at Mossbergs 930 Auto,their about the same price as a 590.and you can get a combo with a 18.5" and a longer barrel,not sure about the length,think it maybe 28".
