Mossberg 590 stock advice

Shotshell carrier, no-jam follower, CDM-Mod-C light clamp, and Jumbo safety should just about complete my build with the Knoxx Comstock I got from Sean.

I really think this was the way to go...as the 590SPX- A1 was about $660 +taxes. I decided instead to purchase the 590 20" with pistol grip and heat shield for $350 + tax. Basically worked out to the same price with all the mods and gear I wanted anyway.
Only thing missing are the ghost ring sights.
 
Personally, I am not really sold on the Ghost Ring sights for IPSC Shotgun. 85-90% of the targets are 25 yards or less, and using shot, in some form or another. Where the Ghost Rings come into there own, are the longer Slug Targets, but usually, a match does not traditionally have a lot of Slug Targets. I find the Ghost Rings are slower to use than just a bead, or traditional Buckhorn sight, for most of the shooting in IPSC Shotgun!

You are going to like the ease of loading the Mossberg though! You will probably need to get the file out and get rid of a lot of the sharp edges, and there are a few other areas to tweak as well to make loading smoother, and racking smoother! Mine is almost as nice as a well used 870 now!
 
I'm pretty sure the SPX has a ported barrel...so it would have put you in open anyway.

I have the Zahal pistol grip - M4 stock on mine, I had an extra 6 position stock so it was only $25 shipped from Israel.

I have the short LOP (12") Hogue stock on my 590A1 and I prefer it over the original stock but I think it still might be a bit short. I have toyed with buying a slip on Limbsaver pad to put on it to bring it to 13" LOP but I haven't shot it enough to make up my mind.
 
note to self,..a pistol grip stock bolt is not the same as the factory stock bolt..(full size):redface:
 
quick trip to the hardware/ fastener store after a 20 second call to mossberg got me a 5.5" bolt for $2. that did the job. The Knoxx comstock feels great,..bounces like a pogo-stick. Looks great and pretty easy to install. ONly thing left is to put the S&J gear on it,.and off to the races.
I realize I have no sling attachment now...I will have to make another call to S&J.
 
Mossberg controls are perfect for the traditional stock style but suck for the pistol grip.
