So i bought a 590a1 with factory ghostring sights, the one with the big orange stripe on front sight ramp.
I was in a rush to pick it up after work.I arrived just before closing opened box but did,nt take a close look.My mistake.Well it was missing sling swivel stud and upon further inspection i notice the barrel lugs were not parrallel.Mag tube rubbing against barrel lug requiring love tap to remove/install barrel.
On to warranty i go.Ship barrel to warranty service back East. They receive Dec 12 on Jan 9th i get package in mail,Yahoo!.....Open box to find what appears to be Blackwater Edition barrel ,has different style of ramp with SX sight in dovetail.Barrel appears to be sliightly used, scratches on barrel and marks on barrel lug from mag cap install.Chamber is a little rusty but that seems typical for the current Mossbergs.Missing sling swivel has been installed on bayonet lug but is shiny blue not parked like the one on the stock(i know i,m picky but the damned gun is brand new!)
So what i have now is a 590 with a sight combination that was never produced.I,m a little leery of going through original warranty provider now. What would you guys do?Would it be unreasonable to ask Mossberg to ship me rail with rear sight for Blackwater Edition? Atleast sights would match. What would you guys do?
Thanks for your input.

For the warranty provider to send the wrong barrel back is sloppy in my opinion. I would be aggressive with them about this and demand a new barrel of the correct type immediately and a new, uninstalled, sling stud of the correct type and finish. Just my $0.02

Edit, you are not being picky you paid for a new gun and deserve that. I would get the vendor involved too, the warranty providers are being hacks about it.

I agree.

That's some pretty sh*tty customer service in my opinion, however give them a call and see if it can be rectified. Maybe there was a mix up, but they should sort it out.

i would say maybe you got somones elses package?
if not then, that pretty crapy of them to do that.
But mistakes happen, just call and ask with the service ticket that would be attached to the barrle they sent back

I guess it could of been someone else,s used barrel except for the missing sling swivel stud that was attached to bayo lug when i received it.Service ticket? The only paperwork i received back was my handwritten note stating what original problem was.As i said before, they received my barrel Dec 12.Got this weird used replacement almost a month later.I was told on the phone by warranty provider i,d be receiving a NEW barrel.I,m just not jumpin for joy at the thought of going through this again with original "factory authorized warranty center" Currently in a holding pattern. Thanks for your advice so far, i will happily take any further advice.
