Hi everyone. This forum was awesome for giving me advise when I purchased my beretta 1301 comp pro and I am hoping your brilliant minds can help me again. I plan on purchasing a 590 A1 with 14inch barrel. The primary use will be bear defence, as last year the bears in my area had no f's to give, even if you blared your horn or air horn or whistle at them. I plan on having it on me for hikes and trail runs with my dog. I want a setup so that I can run with the shotgun in my hands keeping it at my chest or if I need a break can have it loose at my side or chest. I also want it to allow for some stability when firing. I checked out the thread for accessories for shortys and noticed about 80 percent of the shotguns didn't have slings. I don't care if it is single or double mount for the sling and mounting. I just want comfort and ease of use. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I have been checking out magpul and GG and G so far.

I've used a GG&G magtube mounted front sling attachment, and a Grovetech quick disconnect cup, threaded and epoxied into the right (outside) of the stock.
For a sling, I like to keep it simple and recommend Vickers slings.
The result, when slung, gives the front pump hand a natural hand stop, keeping digits well safe behind the muzzle when working the action hard or under stress.

Magpul also makes a similar sling to the Vickers (here on my frankenberg 835). But the Vickers is a better made sling imho.
I'd also recommend switching QD swivels to this Magpul type, as they are only very purposely released. The single button type have come inadvertently loose of the cup on me. While your mileage may vary, I've switched all my QD swivels over.

And while your pick of a 14 inch 590A1 will most likely stop the bear threat you're suggesting, if I were going into known bear territory with a dog and that a negative altercation was likely, I would a) certainly not go. But if that isn't an option, and I most certainly must go, I'd be carrying b):

Thanks for the reply. I am hoping that people will post a few more options and I can pick what will work best. As for the bears. I'm in Northwestern Ontario. The bears can be pretty common. Generally if you leave them alone, they will leave you alone. It is just an added layer of protection and would also be used as a last resort. Nobody wants to have to report or get rid of a bear carcass. Also, running with 7lbs in your hands gives you a nice pump. I generally run the dog on leash going up our bush road, to leave a scent. Coming back the dog is off leash so he can chase his ball. Cheers.

Ah, black bear aren't generally a problem. They can get bullyish around open pit garbage sites and such, but usually just with each other rather than people.
Another option is to change out the furniture (I'm going to sound like a magpul salesman) to this: https://magpul.com/sgastock-mossberg500-590-590a1.html?mp_global_color=118
It'll give you all kinds of sling attachment options...but you'll lose the speed feed. For this problem, you can go with shot cards same or similar with my other examples above.
As you can see, I too believe in keeping some shells with the gun. The shotcards are a secure, non-permanent receiver attachment for up to 7 shells. Once detached, the loaded cards fit nicely in a pocket. I think for the time being I might go with the blue force gear A2 butt stock adapter. I have read reviews and ppl have stated that it fit their mossberg 590 stock. But I appreciate the input and might be interested in the magpul stock if I'm not happy with the mossberg stock.

There is a problem with these. If you want to carry cross body a-la carbine, you'll be fighting with either what I'll call the cuff (your pic), or the sling itself.
If right handed, the only way to stop either fighting with the sling, cuff, or swivel being against mouth or cheek (looking at you Chinese SKS), is to move the sling attachment to the outside, RH side of the stock; and slightly up in the top one half of the butt stock. I have such an attachment on my Beretta 1301 (hollow plastic stock), but I can't remember what the sling is called. It's very sturdy, but not exactly perfect. On mine I ended up using the "cuff" and forcibly threading a Vickers sling through it. An expensive solution, but it works. Let me search for the sling name...in the meantime, a pic of the butt stock, cuff, and sling attachment.
The sling at question is the OD Green. It has a cuff similar to the magpul one you show, but the difference is where the sling attaches. Not on top, or bottom (like Magpul), rather outside. It velcros very securely to the stock and rests under the riser cuff (riser due to the optic mount on my shotgun)
This is where the two slings mate or come together. It was a bit of a struggle to get the Vickers (tan) to get through the buckles on the green cuff, but it happened. The result is a very sturdy sling attachment without damaging the factory hollow plastic butt stock.
