Hi,

I just bought my first Mossberg, a 590A1. It is supposed to hold 6 shells, but after I put 2 shells, the third will go in up to the metal part on the shell and then no further.

I have some 870's and I really wanted to like the Mossberg, but when a gun has problems straight out of the box, it's a real pain.

What should I do?:(

Thanks,

They sell most shotguns with the plugs installed. You have to remove it for range work and reinstall it for hunting if required.

Problem solved:

I guess that I should have read the instructions first!!!!

If I had, this paragraph would have given the answer:

"To comply with U.S. migratory bird law, all five and six shot models are shipped with a wooden dowel inserted in the magazine tube which limits magazine capacity to two (2) shwlls.

To remove the dowel, first remove the barrel. Point the gun downward and shake it back and forth lightly until the dowel falls out"

I guess this proves that reading instructions can pay off. I did not even have to remove the magazine spring retainer.

Thanks,
