Yesterday, I was at my local gun store looking at tactical shotguns. When they pulled the 590A1 off the rack, I noticed that the barrel lug and front sight were attached with epoxy. The epoxy was not sealed, stained, painted, or finished in any way. It was porous and a greyish beige color. The shotgun had just been shipped and arrived the day before I was there. The owner and I speculated that the quality control must be slipping up with the huge demand for rifles and shotguns. The questions I'd like answered are:
1. Is epoxy the general standard for attaching the front sight and barrel lug?
2. If so, what finish / sealant is applied after?
3. Has anyone else ever seen or heard of this, or issues like it?

So if any fellow nutz have any info, please help satisfy my curiosity.

Tactical shotguns aren't meant to be pretty, but if you're really against the colour you could probably just paint those sections over.

Thanks for the info guys, damn it sure looks ugly though lol I'll just have to scrape a few more bucks together for something nicer.

590a1 20" BW with GR sights are one of the best deals out there for a "tactical" SG IMO.
The brazing doesn't bother me one bit .....

I just bought two, one for work, a 14" I've been looking for, for a long time, and one for parts, a 20" 590A1. For the price of $550 brand new for the 20", there is nothing close to the value. If you want a range queen and are concerned with pretty factor, definitely not it, go for a Benelli. The 590A1 is one of those rare values where you can get an American made, Milspec, quality gun for a couple hundred more than Chinese garbage sells for. It won't be polished or dressed up, all function no BS. They're a ridiculously good value.
