I was curious if some of you might be able to help me verify some numbers with regards to the Mossberg 590A1 with factory ghost ring sights. With my own measurements, I found that the front sight base + ramp is .875" tall. Though my ruler is old school and I don't particularly trust it.

However, according to this, it would work out to be closer to .769"

Is anyone able to confirm the total front sight height of the ramp and base?

Just so no one thinks I'm lazy, I did call and email Mossberg and was told that they don't have that information on file.

Hi Donster,

My 20" 590a1 came with the sights that look very similar to the kit you've posted. Can't say if the kit dimensions are the same as OEM but I got 0.750" eyeballing it on my front sight FWiW, so probably closer to the 0.769 as quoted, perhaps I was riding up on some of the solder during the measurement, see attached pic. (Edit - from TDC of barrel)

I really appreciate that! Thank you!

I recently installed a Vangcomp rear sight and it's great. Someone at Vangcomp said the front sight was too tall to be used in conjunction with the rear. However, I found out that Vangcomp's own front sight is .850 tall. So I fail to see how the shorter factory mossberg front sight can't be used in conjunction with it.

Obviously the best way to test this is to shoot the rifle. Unfortunately, every time I've had time off to shoot, I have been rained out.

A quick update: shot my shotgun today. no issues. went through 80 slugs (offhand) and have it the gun sighted in at 25-30 yards. I will refine it some more next time i go out, but so far, it seems like it is pretty dead on. Sight set-up appears to work fine and well! Will update if there are any issues, but other than one last sight-in (always have a second person shoot my rifles to verify), I don't think there will be any issues with my setup.
