Mossberg 590A1 Retrograde 12ga Ghost Ring Sights

Can someone explain why there is apparently no sling attachment on the rear of the bayonet lug? Everything I'm seeing about the 590A1 has two front sling attachments. One on the mag tube cap, and the other at the rear of the lug, which allows a bayonet to be attached as well as a sling.

Perhaps the picture provided just doesn't show the attachment well?

Basically, you unscrew the mag cap attachment and screw in the rear bayonet attachment, it's already there, drilled and tapped.

Here's what I believe is being sold. The sling attachment is on the mag tube cap:

However, here is the bayonet mount with a sling attachment that is in behind it. It would allow a sling to be used with a mounted bayonet. My question is, is this mount, which makes far more sense, being offered with these shotguns.

The picture doesn't show it but you can attach a sling to the bayonet lug. You will need a machine screw sling stud to thread into the hole on the lug. ( you can use the stud from the mag cap)

I thought the 590 receiver was aluminum and the 590a1 is all metal. They keep changing these things, I cant ever keep up!

590a1 receivers are aluminum just like the 590 and 500 series, aluminum is a metal so it’s still “all metal” lol.

Well proven design so nobody should have any worries about longevity/durability of a 590a1

See, this is why I love this site: I learn something everyday!

The shotgun arrived in great packaging, and whoa, what a rock solid tank of a shotgun. I have several Wingmasters that cycle like a tuned S&W revolver, and I wasn't expecting the Mossberg to match that, I was expecting a solidly built gun. It didn't disappoint.

The Parkerizing is a very durable gun finish but it tends to be gritty feeling on the action, and this gun was expectedly gritty. However, with just a spray of Remoil and working the action, the grittiness is all but gone and I can feel this thing will eventually smooth out, maybe even to Wingmaster fame?

The front sling stud has been moved to the rear of the bayonet mount, and I'll be sourcing a sling for it. My only criticism is that the magtube is now open at the end and in order to close it, i'll have to source a shouldered plug. Not a big deal, but something easily rectified at the factory with a little foresight.

Overall, really happy with it and looking forward to range day.

{edit} btw, it looks bad ass as all get out with my Mk7 bayonet on it. No rattle either!!
