Hey Guys,

I bought the padded Vickers Combat Application sling for my 590A1 but have a slight dilemma. The sling is great, but sometimes when it's on my back the magazine cap will twist loose a bit if it gets enough tension. I simply tighten it back up but it happens frequently. I am wondering how to fix this problem so that it doesn't come loose. I know I could put loctite on it but I don't want to use loctite because I need to obviously unscrew the magazine cap to take the barrel off for cleaning, and also I need to take it off to install a magazine limiter for hunting.

Is there anything I can do? I've never used loctite so I don't know if people use it over and over but I thought it was kind of a permanent thing. If it isn't, and people apply it all the time, it would seem to be annoying to have to re-apply loctite every time I want to clean the gun. I also don't know how hard it is to unscrew a magazine cap that has has loctite applied.

Thanks for any advice and suggestions! :D

You could get a sling plate. It's fixed and doesn't move. S&J hardware have some in stock I believe.

S&J included a free sling plate with my +2 extension for my 590a1! I would definitely recommend grabbing one from their site.

Haven't got a sling on it yet, but I am looking at a Vickers as well possibly.

If he has a surefire fore end, that boyo lug would have had to been sheared off. This is assuming he has a light, or maybe one day like to add one. I would personally suggest a sling adaptor. I have used a GG&G for years, and it has certainly taken the abuse.

The OP didn't mention having a surfire forend and you dont need to grind off the lug anyway....you can install a different flashlight end (LED) instead of taking a grinder to the gun or order the 590A1 surfire forend...seen a few guys with surefire forends on 590A1s with bayonet lugs still on, with slings..no problems.

To the OP...do what you want...the hole for the stud is there in the lug, and it works fine if you don't see the need to buy another accessory...if you do then thats cool too.

Yes, but he didn't originally say he didn't either. I was assuming there was a reason he wasn't using the boyo lug for a reason. The Surefire fore end that WOULDN'T require you to remove the lug is news to me. Mind you I had my Surefire on for almost 6 years now.

Using the mag cap or the lug to mount a sling will be a over the shoulder carry - but I will throw out the GG&G adaptor again, it's highly effective.
