Carry an extra magazine with the alternate ammo. Want to do a slug changeover from buckshot? Remove the magazine, quickly throw it in a dump pouch, and insert the new mag and rack the pump. Easy.
That wouldn't work in my world. With a tube fed magazine, I simply open the action, roll out the previously chambered round, drop a round from the sidesaddle through the ejection port onto the elevator, close the action, and shoot, or I can simply feed the single loaded round into the magazine tube, cycle the action, ejecting the previously chambered round, chambering the single loaded round, and fire. By the time I retrieved the spare shotgun magazine, I wouldn't need it any more. Swapping out shotgun magazines isn't like magazine changes with an AR, where you can hold both in one hand, pull one out and push one in. But even if I could make it work, now I have a gun loaded with less lethal rounds, but if need to fire a slug, I'm be pretty much hooped, where I simply cycle my tube fed gun and fire, since the magazine is still loaded with slugs.
