Mossberg 702 Plinkster

i saw that there were Mossberg 702 Plinksters for sale at 140$ (new with one year warranty)

what do you think about the gun? is it a good deal?
does anyone know about its reliability, accuracy and if it is fun to shoot?

My buddy loves his!

You will find everyone on here bashes them. But my shooting buddy loves his. He finds it accurate and never jams. He shoots the cheapest ammo he can find and it cycles reliable.
It is nice and light.
It shoots just as good as my 10/22!

I have one (the gf has claimed) and its not too bad. It is quite accurate, but warms up early, and the groups open up. It runs good with preferred ammo, and like a three legged dog with ammo it doesn't like. Seems to dirty up a lot in 350-400 rounds.

first i was going to get a remington 597 but then i heard so many horror stories with the 597s that i decided to look for other 22s
i found the 702 interesting

ive got a 702.. have bought one for my gf aswell .
i love it.. better than my old 10/22 .. although less accessories but that doesnt matter. and at the price you can paint and modify to your hearts content.

as far as accuracy - good .. not awesome.. but for a $140 gun you wont complain
as for cycling... mine cycles sub-sonic ammo flawlessly

I have never had a single problem with mine. I've put about 1000 rounds of Canadian Tire Federal ammo through it. It isn't the most accurate gun I have ever fired, but for $175 with a stainless barrel, you can't really complain.

Of all the people I have seen buy them, not one has complained about it. Most are proud of their purchase.

ya just get a scope for it then its alot better .... like everyone else has said the GF has claimed it as hers now , the only issue is finding mags for it , gets annoying reloading after every 10 rounds... but a good gun none the lesss

A friend of mine bought one after he saw the collection of older Mossbergs I owned. I was quick to let him know that the "Plinkster" wasn't like the older Mossys, but he is very happy with his. Says it is not fussy about ammo, and shoots well enough to satisfy his needs. What can you say? Good pricing, decent performance, good enough. Regards, Eagleye.

I just picked one up for $140. For that price, I don't expect Anschutz accuracy, but for a fun plinker and gopher killer, it seems to be a good deal. Mags are hard to find though. Wholesale Sports in Calgary (where I bought it) said there were 6 in stock, but had none. I'm on the wait list for 3 more mags (never know when the gophers are gonna rise up and charge )
