Someone please update me on the 715t 25 round mags ban ? Is the 715 p hitting Canadian markets ?? I hope not!!! Sick of wasting money on stuff that gets banned !!!

According to the gun shop I deal with it has and the 25 round mag is now prohibited.

this is from the Mossberg website

****ATTENTION: CANADIAN 715T 25-ROUND MAGAZINE NOTICE***

O.F. Mossberg introduced the new 715P, 22LR Semi-Auto Pistol at the 2014 SHOT Show in Las Vegas. This model will use the same 25-round magazine as our 715T, .22LR Semi-Auto Rifles. According to Canadian law, all 25-round 715T rifle magazines are now prohibited in Canada.

To our distributors, dealers and consumers in Canada: O.F. Mossberg will replace any 25-round magazines you currently have with a 10-round magazine.

Please contact Grech Outdoors for information on replacing your 715T 25-round magazine.

Again! Mossberg and/or Gun Shops cannot prohibit magazines in Canada! They can only refuse to ship/sell them now. Any legal classification will come from the RCMP and I have not seen anything from them as of yet.

I would not exchange any 25 rounders for 10's just yet. Then again just with the crap Mossberg is pulling right now I wouldn't buy a 715T right now anyway.

I hear ya. First my S&W 15-22, 25 shot clips are stolen(thanks RCMP). Now the 858 rifle is up in the air. And next my 715 clips?
My hobby is becoming more of a PITA than it is a pleasure, lately!

I own one, 25 round 10 round...make no difference to me still a cheep POS that never gets used because I spend more time clearing jams and FTF than I do shooting it(may be partly my fault for pulling the mag out with the bolt closed) never had a rifle that needed the bolt open to pull one before....
Thing that bugs me is there is no reason we should have to deal with this garbage...Its a 22

I've had FTE's with both the 25 rd and the 10 rd, but find that it's operator error. 22's are so light and easy I often don't shoulder it well. There's not enough pop in a .22LR to cycle the bolt if the frame can float (ie not shouldered fully). No stovepipes when I keep it on my shoulder. (Cheap blazer bulk 22's is what I feed her).

I've been following this since Jan. There's another thread in legalese , With a post of an old RCMP posting regarding mag capacities . Anyway I called CFO in NB yesterday and was talking to a RCMP tech , she was aware of the 715 p and 715t situation. She told me that the 25rnd mags are prohibited. So is that good enough answer, there must be some one on here who can clear this up, lawyer or NFA or somebody who is qualified. This is effecting a lot of people and we need to know for sure. I know it's only a $40 mag issue for a lowly .22 but I supported other causes that had no effect to me . So how do we find out for sure?

NOT TRUE! f:P:

Why would anyone think that mossberg PR nitwits are any smarter than a government nitwit?

The magazines were designed for the RIFLE. As such, they are legal.

No laws regarding magazines have been changed.

As far as I know, this is correct. I do believe that no more 25 round magazines will be imported into Canada (from thread in Legalese section) as well as the RCMP realizing there may be 40,000 of these magazines in Canada making the prohibition impossible to enforce (also from the thread in the Legalese section).

They should at least replace them with 2x 10 round mags so owners can at least have 20 rounds of fun without having to reload.

No one should ever buy a 715t. It's junk.

No that's not a good enough answer! I had a RCMP tech tell me it's illegal to change the classification of a gun! Said he was also a firearms instructor so he knew! I told him he needed some more training and called a Supervisor to get my M1 Carbine reclassified. There needs to be a official notice from the RCMP or a change in the regulations that we can actually look up and read for it to be good enough. Calling and asking just never seems to get a proper answer.

Bass pro in Calgary was still selling the 25 round mags a month ago...when I bought one there. If I wasn't a CGN member and bought my 715 for plinking and never went to the Mossberg website to see if my magazine capacities legality had changed or was about to, how would you ever know? You know kind of like the 20,000-30,000 other people who bought them. Doubt this would even be enforceable.
