I am not a huge fan of tactical rifles so my knowledge is pretty much ZERO when it comes to AR type firearms.
That being said, a friend of mine told me that his .22LR Mossberg 715T is now banned and he doesn't know what to do with it.
I jumped on the computer to check, and found a few posts here confirming that rifle's banned/prohibited status.
HOWEVER, The Government of Canada website only lists two Mossberg rifles on the prohibited list, both of which are "MMR" models.

So.... I don't want to give anyone bad information, but I am confused indeed.
Can anyone buy/sell a 715T right now without getting arrested?!

The issue is this. The OIC as you rightfully point out is the government link and the legal mechanism by which AR15’s and their variants became prohibited on May 1.

After May 1 the RCMP SFSS decided to start saying some guns were “variants” of the AR15 that prior were not considered to be. The mossberg 715t is one of those guns. We only know they have that opinion because they recently were forced to make the FRT public. Armalytics is good enough to make an easily searchable and usable hosted version of the FRT released by the RCMP.

So is the 715t prohibited by law? Probably not. It’s not named in the oic and a 702 plinkster in a plastic clamshell is not an AR15 variant to any reasonable person (including the RCMP up until a couple months ago.) But sure, if you’ve somehow came to police attention and they use the frt, it’s could be the start of an unpleasant experience.

Tell him to keep it. The FRT isn't law.

You are correct. However the fact it isn't law won't stop you from being charged with possession of a prohibited device. Is that likely? Probably not - I've already people on here talking about themselves and others at their range using their ARs post-OIC, but I haven't seen any threads about arrests relating to the OIC yet. But is it worth the risk? Only you can decide that.

I certainly wouldn't be running to the cop shop to turn the gun in, but I would be very hesitant to actually use it right now. Like a real AR15, if I had a 715 I would just leave it in the safe for a while, see how things go over the next few months - between the court challenges to the OIC itself and the current state of the Federal Government and the ever-increasing likelihood of another election, I am going to just wait and see how things go.

I didn't say parade it around at his local range. The OP said his friend didn't know what to do with it. I said keep it. Simple as that.

The Mossberg 715T is still non-restricted. The prohibited Mossbergs are the 715T Tactical 22 and Tactical 22 Duck Commander (see Armalytics below). The prohibited ones have the AR-15 type clam shell stock. The 715T does NOT have a clam shell stock. If you have the 715T version WITHOUT a clam shell stock you are O.K.

Fortunately, mine is such a piece of crap that it's been sitting in the safe for a few years. Won't change my habits that much no way I'm getting rid of it though!

I've only seen the 715t without clamshell on some American sites. My clamshell model is a 715t with the carry handle, it's not stamped tactical 22, and it's from mossburg international made in Brazil.

Cabelas isn't 'the law' either. I wouldn't base anything on what they do. I wouldn't do anything in public with that gun, not worth the lawyer fees.
