Mossberg 715t vs 10/22 with tacticool stock?

I am looking to buy one of these,

And I wanted to get feedback from owners. I like the mossberg for it is cheaper and comes pre-assembled (not that that bothers me much, but it is nice that there are lots of accessories)

Anything I should think about/be on the lookout with these rifles?
 
My buddy had a mossberg 715. It shot straight no problems with it jamming ect... Only issue he had was to take the gun apart he said the metal screws goes into the plastic housing and he didn't like that.
 
MY mossy has had quite a few missfires and feed issues from new, yes its a pain in the butt to strip. That being said its a $300 gun. So for the price its a hell of a lot of fun.
 
would I be better off with a 10/22 with a tacticool stock like the nomad?

Or it all pretty much the same, a good gun with cheapish plastic hardware?

Are there replacement stocks for the 715t in case the plastic breaks?
 
You are going to find more answers if you read all the threads in this section. Every 5th one is about the mossberg. Take a few minutes and check out the whole forum, any question about the mossberg has already been asked. Good luck on your decision.
 
I've owned both versions of the mossberg. Loved them both and imo grouped more accurately than my friends sr-22. If you read more about the mossy, it's the mags that were the issue. However I owned 7 25 rounders and disn't has an issue.
I did sell both of them because I hated the break down to clean them.
Since then I upgreaded to the su-22.
Folds nicely, has 26 round mags, threaded barrel and a imo better bho lever. Plus a proper mag release which sold it for me!
With th AR pistol grip the gun looks great, but it does add weight. The other cool thing about the su-22 is it's less than 5lbs!

You upgraded to an sr-22 by ruger or an su-22 by Kel Tec?
 
One of my Christmas presents to myself was a Leapers Red/Green dot for my 715T.
Took it out to the range yesterday to sight it in...put just under 200 rounds through it without a failure of any kind...which makes about 1500 rounds now with no issues whatsoever.
I guess it is a bit of PIA the clean (watching one of the many U-Tube instructional vids will help). But really...I've cleaned mine twice in the year I've had it, and as I say it's run flawlessly.
As long as you don't get a dud magazine (the cause of most of the reported problems) it's a great little gun.
 
I own a mossberg 715t, my brother has the regular mossberg tactical with the carry handle. I've fired 5000 plus rounds from my 715 and my brother is probably at the 2000 mark. If your set on getting a mossberg get the flat top, the sights are WAY better and more adjustable, other then that I'd say his and mine are both the same. My mossier groups 1-1.25 moa at 50 all day long and stays reasonably accurate out go 80 yards or so. It was a little ammo picky at first but now it eats any ammo I can shoot through it. It takes me like 2 mins to break it down its really not as bad as people will lead you to believe.

My friend lent me his 10/22 with the marauder stock on it. I had the pleasure of doing a back to back comparison over about a 2
week period. I found his 10/22 to be very ammo picky, with lots of FTF's, I tried 8 diffent kinds of ammo with pretty much the same results. I'm not saying this is the case with all rugers as I've only played with the one 10/22, but I was let down cause all I'd ever heard from people is how superior the 10/22 is to my mossy. The ruger grouped about as well as my mossberg so accuracy was the same.

As for the marauder stock, I would never buy one personally. The stock is very well built and sturdy, it's twice as thick as my mossberg. The sights are terrible, and you need a Allen wrench to adjust them:). I found the marauder stock to be almost as much work to take down as my 715. The length of pull is way to short for any adult, it lacks the adjustability of my mossberg.

To me if a guy only wants to spray and pray then the marauder is a great toy and is a lot of fun, but for target shooting it sucks unless you want to mount an optic of some kind.

This is only my opinion and you know what they say about opinions!! I'm not a mossberg guy by any means I'm just going by my own experiences with the 2 guns in question. My favorite .22 in my safe is my wife's $139 marlin 795. It's cheap never has jammed in 1000 rounds and shoots 1/2" or better moa at 50 yards. It has a bypod and scope and we're still only into it for around $300.
 
I don't know but ill take my 10/22 any day. I handled a 715 at the store for the hell of it and immediately gave it back. Just feels so cheap! But for the price you really can't go wrong. If the feel is of no concern to you then give it a shot

I have the Kel-tec SU-22, my friend has the SR-22 with Maruder stock. His weighs about 8-9 pounds with his RDS. That's almost twice mine.
Being honest, I'd say with your stock 10/22. If you want a tacticool looking gun, buy the mossy PLEASE!!!!! I've seen way to many guys sink in over $1000 into there 10/22 or SR-22 to make it shoot/look as good as the Mossberg.
If money isn't an issue, please try a SU-22!!!!
 
Great info guys!

I will give the 715t a feel, as around at the range and see if I can try one beforehand as well. If that doesn't fit the bill, I do like the look of the SU-22, and looking at the price ranges, for the same money as a ruger 10/22 tacticooled, I can get the su-22.
