Okay, I thought I would get some more feedback.
I have been looking to buy a a .22 semi-auto. I have been taking a hard look at the 715t but with the obvious that has been talked to death lately and speaking to the manager at wholesale sports who said they have big warranty issues with them has got me second guessing myself. He was pushing the Ruger 10/22 they have a lot of add on potential and tactical stocks and so on. BUT my question is which one is a better quality rifle right out of the box. I sure hope I am not starting a coke or pepsi discussion.

Not sure about the 10/22 since i havnt shot one. But i have the 715t flat top. So i can put in my 2 cents.

Pros: lots of rails to make it look tacticool if thats what you like
Shoots cheap 22lr
Decently accurate
Looks awesome in camoform
Easy to change paint scheme

Cons: feels like a big plastic water pistol
Mags are a big pain to eject
Out of 100 rounds, it will malfunction roughly 2 times or more
Royal pain in the butt to takedown for cleaning.
My version doesnt have adjustable stock
My version didnt come with 25 round mag

Just my 2cents

I own a 10/22 and have shot a mossberg 715t- no comparison! The Ruger is the better of the two. The 715t feels like a toy and the mags are a pain in the butt. Also did not like cheap ammo.

Got the 715t.....it's pretty cool..

The mags are a steep learning curve to get in and out.

It does jam, but I find it does so more with cheap ammo. It performs way better with better ammo, and stay away from hollow point.

It looks great, and you can add all kinds of stuff to it because of the railings. I got it for my son and he loves it!

I can't talk to the 10/22, but I have a buddy that hates his...it jams as much as the previous 2nd hand POS I bought at a gun show.....but it seems all .22s have feeding, ejecting issues at some point.

Meh, my 2 bits.

Mossberg is a plastic POS compared to the ruger...just get the SR22 unless you want to do a custom build out of the 10/22...the SR already is tacticool and you can add on all sorts of stuff, it's a 10/22 with a black aluminum stock...my only complaint is its pretty heavy.

On top of that the Mossberg mags are going prohib

I was looking at the takedown model. It is more in my current price range. I got my PAL a few weeks ago and have pent quite a bit so far

If you don't need it to look tactical any of the 10/22s will be a far better investment than the mossberg.

Also in the future you can always swap the stock for a tactical one...although I'm not sure about the take down model, I don't have one of those. Always wanted one though since it's so portable.

Nice just tell him it's an extra $350+ for the sr IF you can find it! The SR it a very over priced 10/22. Just spend the $250 on a stock one and use the $350 I saved you on mods!
I've owned both versions of the 715t, outshot a stock 10/22 any day of the week, however takedown is a real pain!
So much I upgraded and bought a su22. It's $500 unlike the $650+ sr22. It folds and uses ar-22 mags. Take down it just like an Ar.
I also own an ultralight 10/22. Axiom stock, tactical solutions barrel, trs25 rds = 3.65lbs!

I had the 715t it was great..... Never cleaned it !!!! Because it all comes apart and you louse your zero on the sights !!!! Ruger all the way...

I vote for 71.... Just kiddin' :D Too many guys at my club were having feeding/ejection issues with it, plus takedown is a beotch. That's why I took a pass and got a 10/22 instead, $237 at Flaherty's. Another $140 for the Choate M4 stock from Mystic - a few more bucks, but a lot better accuracy and easier takedown, plus there's no comparison when it comes to other accessories.
