mossberg 715t vs Ruger 10/22

After replacing the hammer and extractor, and only use steel-lip mags, and install a bolt buffer, it has never once failed or jammed with its favourite ammo. Find a bigger stock, get a bull barrel with ports or threading for a decent muzzle, and you're good to go with a 10/22. If you can, just buy the receiver and go full aftermarket to build it to your own specs.

While 10/22 is good on its own, it's the Barbie doll of rimfire rifles. Lots of accessories available for it. I will probably keep the stock barrel on mine as light weight is my #1 priority, did my own trigger job (0 cost in parts, maybe 50c in materials), got some 1/4" delrin rod dirt cheap and cut a piece to length as my bolt buffer. Might get the bolt tuneup kit, mostly to have a spare firing pin and reliable extraction is a bonus.

10/22 all the way.
Look at the Archangel 556 stock for it, or the new folders that HiCal has got in...v cool!

And no stupid 10 round mag limit....thanks a lot Mossberg, f-you.

I have a 110 round drum for my 10/22...

I have a sr22 and it's awesome and very high quality. The plastic mossberg deterred me. The sr22 is a lot heavier then a 10/22 with a polymer tactical style stock though. Not crazy heavy though. It was either this or the s&w one but that's restricted so what's the point for a .22lr rifle if it's restricted. With the 715s mag issue I don't see them being to popular

I have a 715 flat top ,got about a 1000 rds through with 2 ftf.right out of the box.no mag problems, never took it apart to clean, just ran a bore snake through and sprayed some oil on it and way to go.It does the same thing as my buddies ruger only cheaper and lighter. Its only a 22 plinking gun for me.The only reason I would not have bought this gun is because of the 25 rnd mag issue. If they become illegal I will sell it .

Had I been a member of CGN before I bought the 715 flat top and read all of this I would not have bought this rifle, but ror that reason only .oh and the mag issue.

well... after an exhaustive search I couldn't find the SR-22 in stock anywhere except gun-store.ca. But they want almost $800 for that stock with just a banana mag and a front grip! No thanks!

So i ended up grabbing a 715t flat top with a spare 25 rd mag. I am keeping my fingers crossed that they will not require the mag to be pinned to 10 rds but don't want to start a debate in this thread. I leaned to the 715t over a 10/22 with AA556 stock as the 715t has last shot hold open and seems to feed and shoot fairly reliably. I also was not impressed with the issues I've seen with the battledyne mags for the 10/22. Worse case I am out $300 so its not too much of a gamble.

just bought myself a 10/22 today, $250 from wholesale sports. just a basic wood stock but the 10/22 is so modular i can always upgrade as i go. OH and for all the mossberg fans I BOUGH AN EXTRA 25 RD. RUGER MAG WITH IT TODAY LOL!!!

Wise choice. Not that it should have been a hard one. I have(had) both, now I have just a 1022, also had a TD which I sold when I got it back from warranty. Just starting to build this one as the TD was limited. I got a power custom ext bolt handle/guide rod/ spring, and ran 2 boxes of win 333 with not one jam of any kind

My cousin ended up with the 715 and still has never shot a 25 rd mag without jamming

I have one, I like it but it jams to much and the sh#ty plastic shell is not strait so i have to set the rear site all the way to the right.

Another option if you like the hold open, would have been a remington 597. If you wanted the tactical look, you could have gone 597 heavy barrel and bought the archangel 556 stock for the remington. With the heavy barrel being only 16", it makes a nice looking tacticool plinker, which in my opinion, is better than the clam shell "stock" of the 715T.
