Hey guys, I just picked up a Mossberg 810A from a friend and I have it listed for sale but i might keep it. Does anybody know anything about this model? I can't find much on the net. It's near mint condition. It's a 30.06 by the way.

I had 800(?) in 308 and it was a good gun. Basic function gun that I wouldn't worry about scratching when using. Action is a strong design, shot okay for grouping size but no trophy winner.

The Mossberg 810 was a long action version of the short action model 800. It was available in 270win, 30-06, 7mm rem mag, and 338win mag. It was manufactured between 1970, and 1980.
As far as function goes, I have only ever held one once, and I never shot it. If I recall, it felt like a reasonanbly built inexpensive sporter for it's time, much like the current Mossberg rifles.

Never shot one but met a few hunters over the years at the range that picked them up on a whim at gun shows. From what they said it was a nice reliable rifle in 30.06 for deer, moose etc.

Personally I always have my eyes open for an 800M in .308 as I like rifles with full stocks.
