I am weighing my options for my Deer gun and,

I can't afford the $270 for a Cantilever Barrel.

Eli's wants $200 to drill and tap and put a rail on the receiver.

I was looking at more like $50-100 for a rail.

If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great.

Or What kind of rail I would need and what thread to use, I could probably dril and tap the rail myself.

Thanks in advance.

for $375 you can get a 535 with both barrels.a 24 inch rifled slug barrel and a 28 imnch vent ribbed barrel

I drilled and tapped my Mav88 is pretty straight forward...

200$ for 15 minutes work ... I hope that includes the Rail ... ouch...

I found a whole bunch of different Saddle Rails that fit the 835 for around $50, I think I will go with that. Cabelas sells the B-square Saddle rail.

But after searching for a few hours and not being able to have anything shipped across the "Great wall of USA". I am back at square 1 and will have to go search around local gun shops and be gouged out of my cash. ($200 bucks for a friggen rail and drill/tap) INSANE!!

Says a weaver #417 rail is best for tapped mounts. $5-10 US

Weaver #48341 Saddle mount. $25-30 US

or

B Square SQU16585 saddle mount. $35-60 US

I hate this no shipping bulls**t.

What barrel do you currently have on your gun? The factory accu-mag choked barrels are not recommended for use with slugs (835 and 935 with overbored barrels). I'm not that familiar with the 835's, but I thought they were a newer model and were all drilled and tapped from the factory. If so its just a matter of removing the factory filler screws and attaching the base.

No, I have one of the old more first round Moss 835 Ulti-mag. Came with a 28" Vent rib (changeable chokes) and a 24" fully rifled Iron sight barrel. This was before they were ported as well.

I think I might go with black pistol grip stock at the rear and a forearm synth stock too. Pistol grip might soak up some of that heavy 3" Mag Slug recoil.

I faced the same issue with my non-cantilevered, vented deer barrel. I ended up buying a universal cantilever base from B-Square that attaches to the vent of the barrel.
