If the mag tube is made the same way they are on the 500 Mossbergs, there is no way to put a mag tube extension on it. For the 500's, you have to buy a new, longer mag tube and a new barrel to fit it. I'm not sure if these are even available for the 835.

How are they made for the the 500?

not the closest pics but here is the 835

On the 500 the mag tube is capped with a solid piece of steel with a hole drilled and tapped through it (3/8", 16TPI I believe). The barrel retaining BOLT threads into this hole. On Remmingtons and others, they use a barrel retaining NUT that threads over the mag tube. This lets you put an internally threaded tube (mag tube extension) on in place of the barrel retaining nut. I'm not sure how clear that is. Maybe somebody has pics to illustrate this?

EDIT: just saw your pics, hard to tell from them, but that really doesn't look the same as the 500. The 500 uses a barrel retaining bolt, not a nut.

Goto www.riflestock.com That is CHOATE rifle stocks they make great extensions, they have EXTENSIONS for the MOSSBERG 835. But in the MOSSBERG 835 section they sort of imply that the extension fits a whole bunch of different shotguns including the Remington 870 and 1100. I could be reading it wrong but if you have friend with an 870 , maybe you could try and see if it would fit. If it does try the EXCHANGE OF EQUIPMENT OR some of the supporters at the top of the page here to see who handles CHOATE PRODUCTS.

Ok, thanks for the info and link.

interesting to know about the 500 bolt thing

it uses a cap, that is NOT interchangeable with a rem 1187, trised tonight the rem cap or nut could slip right down over top of my mossy's threads

the I.D. of the nit is .950" the I.D. of the mag tube is 0.9165" (+/- .0005)

that Choate page is worded oddly thats for sure i will send them off an e-mail about it to see what thay have to say i did notice that the 835 is limited to 8 shots where as the 5500/935 can have up to 10  not in canada lol but makes me wonder if the 935 tube would fit the 835 antoehr question for the e-mail :D

anyways thanks for the info guys
Joe

The remington and Mossberg tubes have different part numbers, so I assume not interchangeable. Mossy tubes strat "02" and Remmy "01".

They are definitely available though!
