Hi all,

I'm in the market for a semi-auto, the intended use is 3 gun eventually, small game and probably turkey at some point.

I've narrowed down my choices to the mossberg 930 jm pro and the stoeger m3500, they cost pretty much te same... I'm debating between gas operated and inertia driven...

Any toughts, experience?

Thanks

never shot the 930 jm, but I own the stoeger and have had it for many years now have lots and lots of rounds through it from light 1 oz skeet to heavy loads. never had a problem or issue with it ever. Probably around 15000 rounds through it.

Owned a regular 930 for a few years, was one of my first skeet guns. Put maybe 15K through it, had a few small failures of parts along the way, but nothing major.
It would also run my 3/4 oz hand loads. Most semis can't do it.

All in all, was a good gun.

I would prefer the 930 all the way. Its a softer recoiling gun, its reliable and for a gas operated gun, its super easy to clean. And there is a lot of aftermarket support if you want to add or change parts to make it more suitable for 3 gun/turkey hunting/bird or clay shooting.

I agree with the above statement. I own one for 6 years and really like it. It's my waterfowl gun but I also used it for all clay games. It circles everything from heavy 3" hunting loads to my 3/4oz reloads. They also have a great customer service. Google "Mossberg Owners" and find all kinds of info. on that gun. Actually here is the link. http://www.mossbergowners.com/forum/index.php

Thanks everyone for the input, the 930 seems more popular but I've heard and read great things about the stoeger... I guess I'll have to find one of each and handle them to see which one feels better.

Thanks again, really appreciated
