Mossberg 930 used just for skeet.

I am having occasional light primer strikes with Federal ammo.
Does not happen with any other loads.

My question is: Do Federal have harder primers?

Any other thoughts would be appreciated. It's only a few months old, round count maybe 6-700. It's been flawless otherwise.

Thanks guys.

If it doesn't happen with other ammo then I sure wouldn't be touching the gun. Don't shoot the federal. It is not uncommon for shotguns or rifles to have a "dislike" for certain brands of ammo.

I assume you're shooting 2 3/4 but Is the ammo 2 3/4 or 3 dram?

If 2 3/4 have you tried 3?

What difference would that make?

Federal primers instead of being flat like most primers they are concave. So if your not getting a good fireing pin strike in the center they may not work for you. I have a gun that doesn't like Federal factory shells at all. But chews up everything else.

I'll stick with Win shells. It seems to love the stuff.
My 590 Mariner shoots the Federal just fine. I'll use up the remainder in that.

Cheers guys.
