  • wasn't cycling reliably some ammo brands thought ammo was to blame
  • disassembled & did thorough cleaning including gas system
  • lots of crud removed from piston rings
  • today tried different ammo brands incl. slugs all good
  • be sure to keep gas system clean for reliability ✔️

Great post, thank you for sharing. Jerry Mickulek has a good video or two on YouTube regarding disassembly and maintenance of the 930.
Thanks again

Thanks!

Had difficulty removing barrel then realized front 2 scope rail screws were contacting the barrel thru the receiver - oops. Loosened these 2 screws no problem removing barrel.

Barrel removal is simple just remove fastener screwed on at end of magazine tube, remove forend and wiggle barrel loose forward.

Yes, gotta clean those gas guns.
I believe the 930 is a bit underrated nowadays with inertia guns being all the rage.

The best way I've found to keep the gas system working is with a synthetic CLP product. Regular oils will bake into hard carbon very quickly. The newer synthetics stay 'wet' and simply wipe off with a rag back down to bare metal. No scraping, steel wool, etc. I spray a generous amount into the cylinder, on the piston and on the magazine tube. It will clean as you shoot it.

Love my 930.

PS. What scope mount are you using?

Today checked out operation with 00 buckshot 2-3/4" shells & IC choke cycles just fine. Except 1 shell bulged what's up with that?? Wouldn't chamber from magazine that will mess you up.

Now aware how 00 buckshot patterns at 50m & 20m.
