Just be sure only 5 rounds of 3" fit, that will give you 6 x 2.75" shells. Any barrel shorter than 18.5" will make your 930 into a restricted firearm (being a centerfire semi-auto). Whether you can live with that or not is up to you.

What do you think of them, Yay or nay? I can't spend for a Benelli M2 or M4 at the moment.

Well I just got mine today. As u can see I got an unfired 930 RoadBlocker version. ANd yes its over the top but the price was certainly right.. so I picked it up.

I will be testing and comparing the 930 tomorrow @ the gun club, so I will report back on how it goes.

Its naked right now but I will soon be attaching a picatinny rail on the receiver so I can place a red dot on top ( I will be also using this for 3 gun events as well as IPSC )

I will be changing the foregrip to an alu railed ver. and reducing the L.O.P. to 12inches I am also replacing the cocking lever and the safety button to the oversized versions. Oh almost forgot - Ill be adding a 2 round extension tube if it fits under the muzzle brake.

Anyhow here is some Mossberg 930 #### along with other members of the family.

Here it is compared to a modified Hatsan MP-A and Benelli M4 RESTRICTED and a 870 pump.

Uhh I had to take out the Knights 308 to make room in the safe so I took a pic of it as well..lol.

When I tool the butt pad of my 930 it only looked like there was room to shorten the stock about 1/2" due to the recoil spring tube.

That brake is huge.

Hey check this out - seems like a good solution...this project reduced the LOP to 12.5inches..perfect for me since I always use a tac vest on my runs.

There is always the MESA Tactical Urbino Stock possibly as an alternative ...

Thanks for that link.

I might look into a thinner pad or cutting that nut in half. Honestly, I've found the stock LOP isn't that much of a problem on the 930 since you don't have to pump it. My 870 has a 12.5" LOP and it needs it.

I'm thinking about getting a 930 for 3 Gun. There are a few choices among the 930. 930 tactical with regular stock and beaded front sight would be my choice.

or....maybe the field version with the 28" barrel, chokes included and fiber optic front sight. Saw one at Cabelas.

Any thoughts from 3 gunners out there?

I just use the home security model, simple brass bead up front. Has been 100% reliable with all types of loads from 8 target to slugs.

I have a nice one I tried for IPSC shotgun, it was done up for 3gun, I did terrible with it compared to my 590. There are several cons to the gun for 3gun here-mag capacity, the lifter design to name but 2. If your planning to do 3gun in Canada stick to pumps, either a Benelli Supernova or Mossberg 590.

Mossberg 930 Hatsan MP-A Benelli M4 comparison.

OK as I promised I did a quick impromptu comparison @ the gun club 2day.

Have a look and decide for yourself.

I must admit I had my worries about the Mossy 930 giving me a FTE or FTE with the target loads but I was impressed with the results !

I talked with mitch at mesa tactical. On friday.
They will be doing a 930 stock, but they have to have new recoil tubes made as the urbino stock is too short.
They do plan to have it on the market in 2012

I just ordered a barrel from one Canadian company and they said that you can only have 5 rounds in a semi auto shotgun regardless of whether it was designed for 3 inch rounds and your using 2 3/4 rounds. So... can i put 6 in the mag if I buy an extension still? Is there actual laws that someone can link to for me?
I mean I believe everyone but I want proof in case some cop harasses me.
Thanks

Mossberg 930 Home security model (aka no tacticool attachments or pistol grip stock) is in-stock at Wanstalls for $599. I was told over the phone they had 4 more after my purchase as of today.

Dan from Wanstalls was very helpful and it was a painless purchasing process. They just arrived yesterday and therefore are not on their website.

I had tried at least 15 stores today without success (including Cabelas, WSS, Milarm, Italian Sporting Goods, P&D, Epps, Frontier etc)

I'm curious on the legality of the +2 extension as well. I plan on using it for 3 gun and I don't want it called into question. It does look better with the full magazine tube though.

On a side note: the Jerry Miculek edition 930 is on its way to Canada according to Wanstalls (no date known yet)

I will probably buy one of those if the 930 works out for me. I will keep everyone posted.

5 in the mag (not the gun overall) of the largest caliber it is designed for, in this case 3". So if you can put more of a shorter round, that's immaterial.

So, 1 in the chamber, 1 ghost loaded, and let's say you could get 6 in of 2 3/4" (but only 5 of 3") in the mag, you'd be fine with 8 loaded up.

With the +1 ext, I haven't tried 3" but can still only get 5 of 2 3/4" in the mag.
