Mossberg 930 *WAS* not feeding *FIXED*

New Mossberg is giving me problems with feeding....:mad:

Thought I was the only guy in Canada to have this problem until a new guy joined us for a goose hunt and experienced the exact same issue with his 930.

Have taken the gun apart and cleaned off all the packing grease and crud, lightly lubed and assembled. Took it to the range and fired 100 rounds with only 1 FTE.

At the goose blind, first shot fires and ejects, second shell not only does not feed but exits the mag and gets dropped to the ground....:confused:

Looks like the elevator does not complete the full up-down cycle. Does not lift the 2nd shell into battery but does release the shell catch resulting in the 2nd and 3rd shell dropping out of the magazine and on the ground.

If anyone has had a similar problem I'd appreciate some help. It's my first semi and frankly I regret switching from my trusty BPS.

Resurrecting an old thread in the hope that it helps someone out...

First off, let me say that I'm very disappointed with Mossberg's Canadian service center representative Grech Outdoors. After repeated attempts to correct my problem, all emails to him have been unanswered, totally ignored...not cool.

So now I'm left all alone to deal with this problem and as always I check youTube first. Turns out I'm not the first person with this problem, seems to be caused by extra grease in the springs of the shell-stop assembly. So, lo and behold some guy has posted a short video detailing the proper way to remove, clean and reassemble the shell-stop.

I followed his instructions and found that indeed, both springs in my assembly were caked in heavy grease. Mind you, we're not talking about large springs here, think Bic retractable pen spring, so the theory is that the heavy grease hinders the movement of the spring which in turn hinders the action of the shell-stop.

After totally removing the grease and only lightly oiling the two springs I test-fired the 930 with both light and magnum loads, the problem no longer exists and feeding is now smooth.

Best I could do was take the trigger guard out and clean the main spring with oil and a q tip and it was dirty. Thanks for your help. Going to run some slugs and maybe low brass this weekend and so how it functions.

I wasn't overly impressed with them myself.. the 2 Mossbergs I have will most likely be the last ones I buy if I have to deal with their Canadian representative again.
