Mossberg 935 anybody got 1?

Pricewise I think the best price for these would be at S.I.R.:

www.sirmailorder.com

I checked out a few at Gander Mountain last week and I was surprised at the fit and finish. I guess you would call it your basic field grade but much better than what I've been reading in some posts.

Same goes for the rest of the Mossys that I checked out there. Even the Maverick was much better made than I thought it would be.

If Baikal doesn't come out with their rifled barrel next year, it might be my next shotgun as there is one available for the 935 and it is not expensive.

You should check out the threads on Shotgunworld in the Mossberg forum. I posted the same question recently and got several good replies.

I looked into the 935 not too long ago.

I liked the design, the tang safety is convenient and it has some good features like a cocking indicator.

Regarding reliability, I haven't heard bad stories about them.

In short, a lot of gun for the money.

Its 2 main limitations are :

1. Will cycle only 3" and 3 1/2" inch loads. That limits its use to waterfowl and turkey hunting only. Some people are adding 0-rings to make the action cycle 2 3/4" shells more or less successfully.

2. Can't use slugs in the overbored barrel. You must buy an extra barrel to shoot slugs.

This autoloader does not seem to be common. Not many owners around. Few gunshops seem to carry them. I am told that availability is restricted even in the States.

I had one. Nice gun for the money. I fired about 300 rds. through it with no problems. Hard to beat a mossy for the price.

You mention "I had one"...what happened to it?

Did you sell it? What reasons motivatd you to not keep it (any problems that we should be aware of)?

Thanks,

I picked up some Rio 32's and 36's and they work flawlessly. Try them out and you will very pleased, I've shot magpies out to 75m with the full choke (aim about 2-3in high)

Does that o ring trick really work?, would be nice for shooting clays and trap and not using my higher end shells

Bought the Rio's at Milarm in Edmonton

Although I didn't buy the 935, I picked up the l'il cousin the 930. Supposedly identical except for chambering. I did a semi-detailed report here, within the last couple of weeks.

So far, soft shooting, no hiccups, hits where I point it (which is sometimes not where I'm aiming! ).

just bought the 535. Its the pump model. Like it so far, I am going to put about 50 slugs thu it this weekend, let you know how it works...

I just got mine in the mail. It's built real well. I tried chambering some already fired shells after cleaning it. It was a little hard to manually eject the shells, after some oil on the extractor it loosened wright up. The recoil pads nice to way better then the 1 my Rem express came with. I like how you don't have to hold the bolt release button to load shells unlike my beretta.

I can't wait till thursdays waterfowl hunt.

Great gun for $570 tax included plus shipping and cash on delivery.

Mine came with a lock, sling and 3 chokes.

but the sling is on backwards???

Unless you shoulder it muzzle down ignore my comment, but I've seen a couple come from the factory that way. Love my mossy's but someone has attitude in the shipping dept.

I wish I was there to have a look at your face as you pop a few 3 1/2'' er's, hopefully at some geese, you will giggle like a school girl!!

I hope you get all the enjoyment out of your purchase as I did mine.

Good hunting son!!!!:)

Im looking at picking up the 930 in the next wile here... Or do I realy need a 3.5"? Im not realy into duck/goose hunting. This will mostly be for casual around the farm chores/pest controll, some casual trap or skeet. Maby the odd outing for birds. Definately going to use it for calling in coyotes ect. How does the overbored bore work for buckshot? Anyone have any info on the thoeory behind overbored? What would happen if one did fire slugs through it?

Well I shot my 935. Got a couple ducks and a few geese. It cycles 3" fine 3 1/2" and heavy 2 3/4 fine, I didn't try any target loads yet.

Sold it because I couldn't shoot 2 3/4 out of it. I also forgot about the finish. If the gun gets wet. Make damn sure you dry it off completely. Before it goes back in the case. Mine wasn't and after I got home in about 3 hours. She had a ton of surface rust on it. Couldn't believe it. Mine was black synthetic. You shouldn't have that problem with camo. But still make sure she's dry.

Shot my buddy's new 935 a few weeks a go. Shoots like a cannon, and I handled the recoil well. I am 5'6" 140 lbs too. I'd shoot it again in a heartbeat.

When he shot it was like throwing darts. Really nice gun in my opinion. And for the money, good bang for the buck I think.

Well the 935 amazed me again today, +5 out and I loaded in 3 target loads and band bang bang all cycle no problem. I tried again same thing bang bang bang. This amazes me as people say they don't cycle 2 3/4", but mine does light loads after about a mix of 20 3" and 3 1/2" shells. I tell you though firing 3 1/2" fast steel loads as fast as you can and you can feel the power.

The target rounds I used were Winchester Universals #5 steel rim.

All this with no o-ring mod, all stock out of the box. :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana:

I really like mine just put 50 3'' ,3 1/2'' through it works great, lets see how it handles the winter i don't expect any problems.Unreal gun for the price i would of liked to try a baylkal (spartan) to compare prices but they don't sell them here.I can't get to cycle 2 3/4 store bought shells,oh well its not made for them anyway.
