I've decided to buy a Mossberg semi, to use principally for waterfowl and shooting sports. The two choices are either the 930 or the 935, it's big brother.

I'm favouring the 930 since I don't plan on ever using 3.5" shells but not too many places carry this model. The 935 seems a lot more popular amongst the site sponsors.

My question for all you 935 owners is this. Excluding the ultra-cheap promotional trap shells, how does your shotgun handle target loads? Does is effectively feed and eject Winchester AA's or Federal Trap loads? Thanks in advance.

Strange that you can't find the 930--I believe they are more popular than the 935. I think sponsors are just pushing the 935 because of the 3 1/2 " chamber. My wife and I both have a 930. I personally don't see the need for 3 1/2" shells, but that's just my opinion. If you are going to shoot a lot of trap or low pressure loads , stick with the 930. Some say the 935 will cycle them but I believe even in the manual it says not designed for 2 3/4 low pressure loads. I also believe, from what I have read, the 935 is more troublesome. Don't know if that is true.

My 935 is used almost exclusively for waterfowl with 3.5" shells but for practice it will cycle 2.75" shells but only 11/4 oz loads or heavier.

If you don't ever plan on using 3.5inch ammo don't even consider the 935. Mine will cycle 1 out of every 3 AA's. A buddy of mine has a 930 and it cycles everything without fail. I'm not sure about the site sponsors but I thought a 930 would be easier to find.

The 935 is a 'magnum' gun in the old sense in that it reliably shoots only shells of magnum pressure. Not designed for target loads. The 930 handles all kinds of 2-3/4" and 3" shells.
