Mossberg 940 JM Pro

Thanks for sharing,

I seen this, and I'm not trying to start an argument. You really think this is an actual upgrade or just something new to get your money? It reminds me of apple coming out with new phones every 3 months.

If you think there's something that big over the 930 that warrants getting it, please let me know.

The action seems to be a significant improvement if the hype is real.

For example being capable of firing 1500 rounds between cleanings is pretty damned good, that's probably multiple times what the 930 is capable of, and about 50% better than what you can expect even from Benelli and Beretta semis.

The loading gate setup seems to be a significant step forward for a factory gun as well.

Lol you're comparing advertised reliability to real-world reliability. The two are not the same.

I don't think it's out of line considering that if you take any quality semi and apply low friction coatings {in the 940's case, nickel boron} to the action, the ability to run when dirty will be vastly improved. I think this is the first time we've seen a coated action from the factory.

You would be surprised as to how many rounds between cleanings you can get with a quality inertia gun.
waaay more than 1500.
seen multiple guns (including mine) easily do it.

Hopefully the 940 proves reliable for those who try it.

Hello

This is a brand new shotgun from the stock all the way to the HiViz site. This shotgun is Competing Ready out of the box
Adjustable LOP 13 to 14.25``
Wider Magwell, which you will not get caught while Quad loading (doesn't bite) really smooth loading
New gas system that runs cleaner and faster good up to 1500 rds for maintenance (cleaning)
3 Brilley chokes included
HiViz sights

So after playing with it and shooting it at the range day for Shot Show this is a great and different shotgun.

Finally to answer your question Yes you should look into buying this shotguns, nothing like the 930.

It's a lot harder to do with a gas system, especially on a gun that isn't well broken in, so for Mossberg to make such a bold claim suggests they have confidence in it.

I'd worried about their longevity more than anything, which is an issue with previous Mossberg semiauto shotguns, including the 930.

The Mossberg 930 has always been a good hunting gun.

But it has some trouble with higher volume shooting like 3-gun or trap shooting.
The problem being that the piston gets badly fouled up after a few hundred rounds.

There are some good aftermarket pistons for the 930 that are "self-cleaning",
which make the gun much more reliable for high volume shooting.

The 940 is basically Mossberg changing the 930 to that aftermarket style of piston from the factory.
Reviews so far have been positive.

Does anyone know If this is available yet to us here in Canada? Or when it may be available?

Cheers

Not yet. And every dealer I’ve talked to said probably not, because companies don’t like making Canada only models.

They have to make a “Canada” special model to sell them here...and our whole country has less buying power than 1 state haha

Can Irunguns pin a shotgun tube in a way that will comply with Canadian laws?

Yes.

I bought a semi-auto shotgun from them a few years ago.
A wooden dowel was epoxied into the magazine tube, to make it Canadian legal.

I'm pretty sure Mossberg will make a Cabadian neutered version for us as they did with the 930 JM Pro if this is to be the 930's replacement.

Interesting. What was it epoxied to....the cap?

Yes.
Obviously this was good enough for CBSA to approve them.

I suppose if you're worried about legal interpretation going against you;
You could also epoxy the cap to the tube threads, so it can't be taken apart.

Yes, that was my concern.

I seem to recall reading in the regs that pinning a pistol mag by altering the base or the follower wasn’t good enough. The mag body itself had to be altered. That obviously led me to wonder if in the case of a shotgun the tube was the part that had to be limited.
