We have been waiting on the new mossberg 990 to arrive for several months.
Now, we can start working on upgrades for this.
We got to play with this at shotshow as at the Canadian wholesale show a few months ago.
First observations.
Magazine tube
Production modles use the same thread as the 930/940.
Down side os that is a completely different lenth then any of the magazine tubes we make.
Good news We will have a Canadian legal magtube for this, sometime early April.
Charging handle is way too small, and your hand will hit the action release if you try to do any emergency reload.
Easy fix, our 930 combat charging handle fits.
The bolt release has the same issue as the first Gen Beretta 1301.
Has to have a shroud around the back of the bolt release to stop it from being bumped and releasing the bolt at the wrong time.
It gets worse...
The bolt release tab is plastic, it looks 100% plastic, i was hoping for at least a cast metal lever with a plastic tab.. or maybe MIM..
That said I could, not find a magnet at the shop and it was getting late.
Good things
It takes mossberg 500/590 butt stocks.
Has MLOK slots at the front of the hand guard for a weapons light.
Takes 500/590/940 scope base.
So our M1913, Acro, RMR and T2 optics mounts fit
We will build this gun and use it this year as a training gun when we host PhaseLine Green Tactical shotgun course at Madoc and Peterborough
Gun club starting next month.
More to come.
