Mossberg differences?

Hey guys, not a mossberg guy. But can you enlighted me on what are the differences between a 590 and an A1? Is it just cosmetic?

Thanks again, guys. The reason I asked is that my buddy bought a mossberg. It says 590A1 on the receipt but, I was quite sure, the actual shottie is a 590. Also the the box it came in said persuader(??), and the price he paid was cheaper than an A1. So it got me thinking. I'm a 870 guy.

On the left side of the receiver should have a roll stamp 590A1 on it.

There is a 590 presuader model.
