Hey All!

So I'm learning towards a mossberg for my first shotgun. I've been going through the website but there are SO many to choose from and I was hoping someone might be able to help me narrow down my choice (or offer advice if they think perhaps I'm sniffing down the wrong path).

What I'm looking for:
- 20ga
- synthetic stock
- BBL of 24"-26"

Please help! Would appreciate any advice and recommendations...

THANKS very much :)

I'd look at a rem 870 20ga. if you want a pump and is around $350. If you're looking for a semi, the 11-87 sportsman 20 ga. comes in synthetic stock as well and is around $650 new.

I have both rem's and mossberg shotguns and they both work well, but for parts availability I'd go with the Remingtons.

good luck

Don't go too short on the barrel length if you're using it for wingshooting. The manufacturers will typically design the best 'balance' into the gun with a 28" barrel. At least this was the case when they would offer a 26", 28", and a 30". This way you could tune it slightly to your liking.

The Youth models can get away with the very short barrels (22" or so) because the butt has also been trimmed down - everything has to balance out. A youth stock with a 28" barrel would be awful.

Ignore this info if you're shooting pumpkins, zombies, or anything stationary.

No I wasn't planning on shooting anything stationary.

I think my major concern is this: I've tried the Benelli Nova 12ga and it was simply too much gun for me.

That's why I was thinking 20ga. and leaning towards 26"
