Good pick for a first shotgun, they’re tough work horses.

If you can find a used wooden buttstock from a mossberg 500, it will fit perfectly on your maverick 88 with minimal effort.
Makes the gun feel much more solid compared to the very flexible OEM option, seems to mitigate recoil better, and looks a little more classy (in my opinion)!
