Mossberg maverick o/u

I haven't shot one yet but have handled several. They actually fit me very well. They seem heavy but balanced well enough. Fit and finish is equal to its price. The safety and barrel selector were stiff on anyone I've held. The barrels locked up solidly with a bit of force. They will prolly wear in. The hinge pin seemed to me as a weak point but I'm no machinist. Its a solid feeling gun but it has a toe safety which I do not care for. I'm sure the guys at the skeet field would get a laugh out of a plastic o/u. Would maaake a nice candidate for a custom paint job. All in all I didn't buy it. A used browning or beretta would be a much wiser investment. However if you feel so inclined buy n try it. You will only be out $500 if you don't like it

lol im sure it would sell in a second for 450$, you wouldnt be out much if you dont like it.

If it's $500.00 then don't waste your money. Mossberg already has a not so good record with their low priced Silver Reserve. Why would this be any different except for the stock? But it's your money to gamble with.

I had one , got it new and lasted 1 day before the thing almost blew up in my hands.
Let me go on record that I REALLY like mossberg shotguns and owned ALLOT over the years . I will still buy the pump shotguns and think there great value for the money.
Back to the O/U Maverick - they have a terrible QC and overlooked soldering in the bottom barrel , as a result it was separating from the receiver . If I would have continued using it that day I believe it would have has catastrophic failure.
I returned it and was offered a replacement - HE!! NO was the answer
