Mossberg MMR Hunter disassembly

Anyone take one of these basic Mossberg AR’s apart? I had a heck of a time with the fore end, and then the gas block, and now the barrel nut is causing me the most grief. I’ve got the barrel/receiver mounted on the reaction rod in the vice, with my heat gun clamped to the work bench and heating the barrel nut area. I’ve got a 24” breaker bar on my Magpul armorers wrench and I’m putting so much pressure on it I’m worried I’m about to break something on the upper or on myself! What am I missing?

I wonder if they used Loctite instead of grease lol.

I’m fairly certain it’s loctite’d yep. It’s well over 100 ft/lbs.

Use a upper vise block not a reaction rod for barrel nut removal. You will almost definitely shear off the upper index slot with reaction rod.
