I acquired some rifles and shotguns from a good friend. I have lots of questions about most of them. One of them is a Mossberg model 190 16ga. The stamp on the barrel says 12ga. Could this be a miss print or is there an other reason for the wrong stamp.

Will a 12 ga. shell drop in the chamber? if so it is 12 gauge.
I can't see the barrel misstamped by a factory.
It is not a 195 model is it? , Barrel could have been changed sometime?????????????

It does have a C-Lec-Tor style "poly choke" Model 6 on it. I looked into the model 190 and it only came in 16 ga. The barrel is stamped (Model 190 12GA 2-3/4INCH). Very strange. 12 ga shells do not fit in the action or clip. 16 ga. fit and work well. Trap shot all afternoon and did well. I can't see any serial numbers on it. Does anyone know where to find the ser numbers?

"...can't see any serial numbers on it..." There may not be one. S/N's weren't required on a lot of U.S. made firearms until after 1968. May be under the forestock though.

There are no serial numbers on these guns.
If , when it was registered:(, there would have
been one of the stupid little stickers the idiots in CFO sent
out.
I am surprised how many guns I see with out serial numbers
and never find any stickers on them .;)

Got a reply back from the Mossgerg club and found that there was a run in 1955 that was miss printed. Thank you for all of your input.
