Mossberg MVP Patrol 7.62NATO/.308WIN -- IN STOCK

I own a MVP Patrol in 7.62x51 wearing Nikon 3x9 glass. I felt the glass on the scoped version to be a quality mismatch with the rifle being far ahead. It actually shoots pretty accurately with the iron (fibre optic front sight).

There is some bolt slop but it's solid with a round in battery. The mag that it came with was pinned to 5. It loves M14 mags but doesn't like Polymer AR 10 mags. I think it's the thickness of the feed lips. Not sure if it will cycle 10 rd XCR-M pistol mags. It would be neat but not a deal breaker for me.

As an FYI on the processing time for certain warranty issues: I had my Patrol sitting in my safe for a couple of months after buying it and on the first day at the range I encountered problems with the scope. After a number of phone calls and emails(first to Wanstall's, who pointed me at RedlSports, who pointed me to Grech), I eventually found out I'd have to ship the scope to Grech Outdoors for warranty issues. Grech received the scope from me in July and I've been checking in with Grech every month or two. As of early November they report they are still waiting on the arrival of a replacement scope which they will ship to me. Hopefully it arrives soon but after ~5 months I'm not optimistic...

yeah... Grech handles Mossberg's warranty in Canada... they are SLOW and not keen on being very helpful in my experience

So whats the mag limit on these? Bolt actions are unlimited? But theb its whether the mag is prohibited itself? Im just trying to recall. Could we have ten round 7.62 pmags come in for these?

I have XCR-M magazines for my Patrol they are pretty nice and work good but they are way over springed for feeding a bolt action rifle. I pulled my magazines apart and cut down the springs by 3 rungs to lighten the tension and now they feed bullets way way smoother.

Will they still function as XCR-M mags in an auto-loader with the springs cut?

Probably function, but would probably have issues if used back in a semi auto. The way they were tho I would have to slam my hand hard into the bolt handle sometimes to get the bullet to move because of all the spring tension this was even more of a problem using steel cased ammo because if the steel to steel contact and it was scraping off brass from brass casing so to use them I really didn't have a choice if I wanted to use them in my MVP patrol. I don't have a 308 semi auto I bought them specifically for my MVP so it's a non issue for me but if you also have a semi that's a choice you will have to make for yourself.

Personally I did it and would do it again no question to use them in a bolt action gun.
