Mossberg night train serries questions

Id buy a ruger but id never buy another savage again im just tryin to put my $450 of paper Canadian tire money to good use lol

If the Savage that ruined you was an Axis, I'd still consider the 110/111/116 or whatever line of rifles. Far better in my books and available in a combo with a halfway decent Weaver scope. The new Ruger American looks to be a decent rifle for the dollar, they stock them at the local CT's here. Mossberg rifles don't really interest me whatsoever, other than that laminate MVP.....I did just trade my 223 on a 35 Whelen.....need a new coyote gun.

Im looking at it for a cheap deer/elk gun. I wouldn't want the muzzle break cause it adds like $400 to it over the other night train rifles. Im just lookin to fill the freezer.

I would go with a savage there are some rugers that are not bad but there are some very good savage rigs for less then 600 with a scope and then toss a bi pod on and tool it all down there you go 10 times the rifle any Mossberg will be.

The savage over all will be 10 times the gun the Mossberg will ever be I will tell you Mossbergs are so cheep... there is no joke as to how cheep they are.

Really? Speaking from experience are we? Or just blowing smoke? I've gotten rid of two Savages, an older model 110 and the Axis. As stated previously, I now own two Mossberg's.

Try to keep in mind what the OP's original question/concern was. If you don't have first hand knowledge or experience with the firearm in question, then you are probably not addressing his concerns.

I'm a long ways from that but yes that's what I'm talking about lol. :D

heres the secret, buy gas at their gas bars, .04 cents a litre with debit and cash .05 cents a litre if you use a Canadian tire mastercard any other credit card u get nothing

but as stated I was looking for past owners opinions on it, but I do also slightly value the don't buy it cause I said so.

I really like the Mossberg mvp in 223 and it feels like a quality gun to me, but I haven't had a chance to pick up a night train yet, in all honestly im lookin for a rifle from Canadian tire, and whatever 308 that feels the best to me that I like im gunna buy but its nice to ask other people and save myself from any future headache if possible. I already have a m305 so buying another 308 just makes sense then I only have to stash one type of ammo and if your wondering why im gunna buy from Canadian tire this is $403.75 reason why lol

?.... you have a .308 and will be buying another .308 because you already have one?.... this goes against everything I stand for.... lol.... I have shot all of the mossberg rifles and found all of them to be clunky junk.... and you don't need a brake on a hunting rig.... I will say there was one exception in the mossberg line up and that was the mvp.... I thought it handled and shot well......

I'm not knocking your opinion, but I am curious as to why you thought the MVP felt better than the other Mossberg's you've shot? I haven't handled the MVP, but it does appear to have the exact same action and trigger group as the ATR and 4x4.

For your information I did In fact have an unfortunate accident with a ladder and a 3lb sledge which ended in a concussion unfortunately lol and now i tend to repeat thingsl but I buyng common calibre guns cause im only stashing one calibre of ammo not several.

Sorry for your luck dude... but seriously. .. expand your repertoire.... it will make you happy.... cuncussion and all... 223 is a great yote caliber..... and cheap to own...

Since my question about the receiver and trigger group has not been answered, I'll answer the question myself. Yes indeed the MVP's receiver and trigger group is the same as that of the ATR and 4x4. Exactly the same as a matter of fact, the 4x4 as well as the MVP are both based off of the ATR's action.

To the OP, you would be better off reading actual rifle reviews off the net than asking peoples opinions on certain firearms. There is much snobbery on this site when it comes to entry level firearms. Too often people feel the need to chime in on things to which they have zero or very little knowledge. As you've stated your just looking to fill your freezer and the Nighttrain will surely at least be adequate for that. ;)

Wow.... some people are touchy... I simply said that it handled and shot better IMOP.... and recommended the MVP.... There is more to a rifle handling and shooting well than the bolt and trigger.... geeze...

The MVP is a pound and a half lighter, has a shorter barrel and comes with bases as opposed to the pic rail on the night train.... You can also get one without one of those awful scopes on them..... Also, add that damn muzzle break and the night train handles even worse......

He wanted opinions and I gave mine and have shot both rifles..... deal with it.....

Snobbery? Okay, it won't make you happy, but here's an actual review!

I've actually read that thread sometime ago. Pressed and not threaded, I'm assuming that is one of the ways cut corners to keep costs down. While I can't say for certain, but I'm almost sure all manufacturers have their quirks. Right? I would have to disagree with this thread being called a review though. I meant a reputable review, like from a magazine or columnist. No offense intended Ted.

Not touchy at all. It does not matter to me which rifle he chooses, I'm sure he'll be happy with whatever he pics. I was simply asking for clarification as to why other mossberg rifles are clunky junk, as you stated, and the MVP is decent? Since they are all essentially the same rifle. Now I understand though, you were referring to the stock! Please accept my apologies, there dealt with it.

That is the most funny ignorant , head stuck in the Sand thing I have ever heard . Reputable haha why do yo think mags have things "gifted" to test ? How long do you thunk a mag would be in production if it started bashing on guns? It would start off as no company lending them firearms to "test" (promote) , so they would have to purchase every product , than company's that have been scorned on would file law suits on lack qualifications to test and grade and lastly sponsors and advertisement would pull their product for fear of bad reviews and promotion . At this the point the company goes broke and belly up . You NEVER bite the hand that feeds you

Just to add another even more cost effective option ,,savage axis great shooter reliable and dead on out of the box
if you want a cheap performer this is the one meat and potatoes that will deliver every time
And no worries dragging it about like the pricey ones
just my two cents

cheers
