As a gift to myself for quitting smoking for six months, I drove a new Mossberg 930 combo, home yesterday!

Spent about an hour taking the gun apart, removing the red packing grease and lightly oiling every moving part. BTW, is a brand new Mossberg test-fired at the factory and left dirty?

Back to the original question...Since this is my first-ever semi, I have very limited knowledge of the mechanics involved in gas operation. I'm good at following directions and reading exploded-view diagrams and that's about it.

Does anybody know if the 930/935 is uniquely Mossberg-designed or is it a close copy of another existing manufacturer's model?

I got tired of waiting 3 months ago and ordered a 935 from Cabelas.ca (when they were on sale mind you). Smashed two turkeys with it. The mechanics of the two systems are almost identical save the gas ports and strength of the recoil spring.

From what I've read, the Beretta engineer went to Mossberg and helped them develop a self-regulating system. It's a hybrid btwn Beretta and Browning apparently.

Thanks for the info mosinmaster, was not able to find that anywhere else I searched.

Got the chance to fire the gun a couple of days ago. Shot three rounds of 5-stand at OSGC and was really humbled...:(

The Mossberg performed quite well, only had one FTE. My shooting on the other hand was terrible, I really need to either get a shooting book/DVD or a personal instructor to review the basics and try to get better.

The only regret I have is not getting the adjustable synthetic stock. I opted for the wood furniture instead and now that I need to adjust the stock lower can't do it as easily as I could with the synthetic.
