Thanks guys, I have heard a lot of people using Krylon paint and the plasi bond, not sure if the rit will cover the pink and black! Calltoarms, have you tried it on poly stocks?

No but look up what it does on pmags. The pink would be a good base.

I used the RIT BROWN die on a pink pistol. It came out a very dark burgundy. Looks good.

The pistol was pulled from the dye prematurely. It probably would have come out even darker.

That looks awesome, kind of a plum color, that could work, did you have to prep the plastic in any way? Also, how long do you leave it in the dye, I guess the instructions would tell me, but more info before I attempt would be helpful and less chance of me screwing up!

That looks pretty nice. I never would have thought that Rit would be able to do such a job. Does it look like it will last a long time or will it wear easily.

If prepped correctly and auto body shop would have nonproblems painting a synthetic stock. 2 stage with a clear coat would be what id go with. Maybe some flake in the clear

You can see the colour gradually change as you soak it. I was planning on leaving it in for a certain period and my wife walked by and took it out of the die and dumped it down the drain at about half the time I had planned on doing it.

I get the feeling the colour is in the plastic now, not just on the surface. I have shot the gun a few times and see no sign of any wear.

I think I will try the dye,, if it doesn't work, then I will paint it, but I like that it is right in the plastic, at least to a certain extent!

Just getting ready to do the deed, maybe a small fly in the ointment, when I took the stock/ forearm off the mossberg 500 bantam, I could see that the pink camo was painted on, I think the dye will still adhere but likely won't be as tough as if it went into the poly itself! Will let y'all know!

Update,,, well, the color would have been great, but didn't stick well, it started peeling off when I took it out and after I cool bathed it you can peel it with your finger, too bad but learned a lot and will use this method for other projects for sure! The 500 will have to be krylon, which is too bad because the camp looked nice with red and black!

The camo stock would have had a paint base coat and the camo film is hydro-dipped onto the base coat and then finished off with a clear coat. There is no way of dying that....paint over and be done with it
