Mossberg Silver O/U

Tell them to save their money. They are "soft" guns and will work themselves apart with even remotely hard use. I know of a couple that should be stamped made in Canada because the have had to have so many parts replaced. They were used a loaners guns.

Stay far away from these, they also have big probs. with firing pins breaking, and actually launching out the barrel if dry fired!

turkish made junk.. buy a used Miroku (citori) for the same or less, or a browning, ruger, winchester 101.. something like that. I think even an old Baikal would be better :)

If you really need removable chokes Epps will do it for $100 per barrel or so

Is it just the Silver Reserve or every Turk made brand in general?

What's that supposed to mean? Quote

Are you saying we can't produce quality merchandise in this Country?

I shouldn't even respond to "air headed" posts like this one. f:P:2:

Got to learn some new things today.
1. Canadians produce ####
2.And Cynergys are "hard core"

Could my ecucational experience on these forms get any better?

I don't understand the Turkeyslayer on this one.

I must be weird, because I think I understand what he is saying. He is saying that they break down so often and need so many parts replaced that the majority of the gun has been assembled in Canada. I thought that was a stretch but it was funny. I did in no way take his remark to say Canada made stuff is ####.

I agree. That's how I interpreted the post too.

My buddy had one. I shoot it a few times. He had it for only a short time. We did not like it. Hinge was very stiff, did not balance well and had misfiring issues. He got rid of it. There are better shotguns out there for the same money.

Yes there are. They are called Semi Auto's.

Yes, everyone has thier own preferances. In this regard, he's looking for a SxS or an O/U, most likely in a 20 gauge.
I can concur with this, I myself have many pump action shotguns. But, my O/U in 20, is prefered many times solely for small game excursions. Purely for ease of handling and quick load/unload. Although, if I find myself with a deer tag in my pocket and a grouse licence, a 12 gauge pump and a few slugs, often accompany the selected birdshot. YMMV......
Edit: For years I was in the market for a nice Ithaca/SKB SxS Model, a Model 100/200/280 SE, in an upland length barrel, but alas this came to naught. I used to hunt always with a dependable SxS and I wanted in my mind, the ultimate double barrelled field grade gun.
However, I did finally end up with an O/U 20 gauge Model 500 Ithaca/SKB via Longwalker & I'm very happy with it now. :)

Sorry I lost you fellows, what I was trying to say was that the guns had so many parts break or that needed to be replaced by Canadian Gunsmiths that they may as well have had a "Made in Canada" stamp on them because most of their new workings had to be constructed here to replace the foreign junk.

Does that clear things up?

CR we have been on the same wave length with shocking regularity recently. Some must be wrong with one of us:p

Makes sense now, of course me being slow witted doesn't help much.....Ben

No worries, my wording could have been better. Atleast you weren't insulting.

Brutus, your friend's best bet might be to shop around and try to locate a Franchi or Ithica O/U or even a Remington Peerless. I have seen all three in reasonable used condition for 650$ or less, as a side note the Peerless would be my last choice as apparently they had a few bugs I liked the one I handled but you never know.
