Mossberg Silver O/U

Is it just the Silver Reserve or every Turk made brand in general?

I have seen maybe one or two of the higher end alloy shotguns in this country. I am sure there are more, but not enough that I would call them common in my 20 years of active shooting.

The stuff they import from there from mossberg and stoeger is low end, poorly constructed junk. Just like for the low end junk that comes from other countries that can make profit from the low wages of their workforces among other advantages (environmental laws and such). Norinco is similar, but has been improving with their increasingly export based economy.

The same can be seen in made in mexico stuff, and The Yugo automobile LOL :)

That being said, I am sure there are craftsmen in every country hammering out unique works of firearms art at their forges.. but we wont likely see them here anytime soon. I would be open to buying a nice Turkish mauser.. do you have one :)

Having strayed from the actual topic now, let me reiterate my original statement. Dont buy the mossberg or stoeger it is poorly constructed junk that wont last. Stoeger is an importer who puts their names on various firearms constructed in different places at different periods in time.. Perhaps some have had luck, MOST that I and others have owned have failed repeatedly, esp the firing pins. I also would not touch a score.. though it looks nice. Alloy recievers are not for me (esp the abuse that a often used trap or skeet gun will see), even a Beretta.

I am not about to get into an arguement about the quality of all Turkish guns. I dont live in Turkey, and that is not the point of the ops question. Forgive me for taking offense to what I see as a loaded question.. Perhaps I am wrong in your intent.

EDIT: For the record Stoeger Condor line is a crappy BRAZILLIAN made gun, not Turkish like the mossy. Both are cheap.

well i bought one because yes the price was right, and its no citori or 101, but i have fired 2000 plus rounds out of it and no issues, also kicked many poeples a** @ clay pigeon comps with it, hhaha people all hard core with there cynergy's . but to each their own

Congrats on being another of the many few that have kicked A** in competition with the hard core high dollar shotgun snobs using a ( insert budget brand named shotgun).
I am consistently amazed at how often this happens or at least how often such feats are reported in various threads in all the shooting sites I visit. Truly it seems I read such postings each week !
Any of those many A** kickings in competitions you put on those guys recorded in ATA, NSSA, NSCA or club records ?

20 years later the snobs have the same gun, the other guys are just lookin at their wall hanger that has been on the wall for 15 years.

no one said cheap guns dont shoot did they....

what they do is.. fall apart

Also, paying the same price for a QUALITY used gun as you may for a POS new cheapie does not make them snobs, just more experienced. If you want a shiny new paper weight for a first gun so be it.. but dont pass off your own flight of fancy as the smarter option. The smarter option is to buy a more durable firearm for the intended purpose.

Many of us (like me) have bought cheaper guns at one point, that is why we now know better. google is free, as is the opinions of seasoned shooters. Go to the trap club and ask the least snobbiest (is that a word) person there and I will bet they say the same thing. For that matter, scan the EE here, not many cheap fragile guns for sale.. they are in the recycle bin:)

I like mine, a 20ga w/ 28 extra barells. One of my buddy uses his 12 for ducks and does very well. No problems. Lots of coments from people that knows a guy that knows a guy. Lets here from guys that have owned them.

Sorry I lost you fellows, what I was trying to say was that the guns had so many parts break or that needed to be replaced by Canadian Gunsmiths that they may as well have had a "Made in Canada" stamp on them because most of their new workings had to be constructed here to replace the foreign junk.

Does that clear things up?

Yah, that's how I interpreted your original post.

I'm glad I stumbled across this thread since I was considering getting one, I will definitely not get one now.

Guys, I recently also asked about the CZ Bobwhite in another similar thread.

There were many more positive replies in that one than this, no offence to anyone here, just saying......

The irony for me is, I approach the interested party with data on a nice brand new shotgun on sale, from a nearby very reputable dealer.
He immediately disassociated himself from any further interest!
